The Qurio: Malzeno uses life-forms called the Qurio to drain the energy of other living creatures. The Qurio harbor a unique virus that can inflict the Blood Rite condition on their prey.

Blood Ritual: When Malzeno becomes invigorated, its carapace turns black as ink while the chest and webbing become blood-red. In this "Blood Rite" state, it loses self-control and becomes extremely violent.
